Essay

Results of long-term radioecological monitoring on agricultural lands contaminated after Chernobyl NPP accident are presented. The universal database including data on soils and crops radioactive contamination, soil and plants characteristics was developed. The linear dependence between 137Cs specific activity in plants and density of soil contamination for 16 agricultural crops grown on 4 types of soil in Ukrainian Polessie and Lysostep was justified. Crops were ranged by the level of 137Cs accumulation from various types of soil; critical radiological links of the "soil-plant" food-chain were specified. Two-exponential model for dynamics of 137Cs accumulation in phytomass was constructed, respective parameters were estimated qualitatively.
