Essay

Object - process of diamond grinding of superhard materials (SHM); purpose - increase of diamond grinding efficiency owing to the scientifically justified definition of the efficient characteristics of the wheels at the stages of their manufacturing and grinding of superhard materials; methods - of material cutting theory, theory of thermal conductivity, mechanics of contact fracture of brittle solids, finite-element method, laser scanning and colorimetric methods of surface testing; novelty - the scientifically justified consistency of diamond wheel choice, which ensures invariance of integrity of diamond grains at manufacturing of the wheel has been developed, increase of productivity of grinding of superhard materials under conditions of decrease of their unsoundness and specific discharge of diamond grains, decrease of failure of cutters made of SHM; results - the best diamond-metallic composition for abrasive tool manufactured by powder metallurgy methods, the best combination of grinding modes and characteristics of diamond wheels of reduced concentration of diamond grains for effective machining of SHM, conditions of sharpening of single-pointed tool made of SHM depending on its operational purpose have been recommended; application - Poltava Diamond Plant, annual economic effect 35 000 UAH; branch - mechanical engineering.
