Essay

The thesis is the first integrated research of Ukrainian incantation in the context of rituals conducted. The most important world mythological resesrches concerning the theory and the function of magic, which enable to view the incantation genre as a verbal-action-subject triad, are analyzed in this paper. A great emphasis is put on the influence of cosmogonical myth upon the formation of the content and structure of Ukrainian icncantation. The most important images, peculiar to incantation folklore genres, with their symbolic meanings and functional role in texts are also analyzed.
