Essay

The thesis is the first integral investigation of spring calendar-ceremonial folklore in Ukrainian folklore study. The main attention is paid to elucidation of the definitional of the term „vesnyanka" (spring ritual song), its structure and semantics. Regional specifics and genre dynamics of spring songs is determined, new classification of spring calendar songs is offered, their main motive and images are considered. An attempt to generalize the spring rituality types and kinds as well as the main folklore images based on cartographe is made.
