Essay

Thesis deals with enhancement of ultrasonic non-destructive testing means and techniques based on ultrasonic field analysis. Spatial amplitude distribution within near field zones of ultrasound radiated by straight and oblique prismatic piezoelectric transducers (PET) and electromagnetoacoustic transducers (EMAT) are considered. Spatial structure of echo-signals' field is investigated for various aperture forms and sizes and different pulse signal length. Multielement defocusing PET are proposed for getting more uniform ultrasound covering of test zone. Methods developed for ultrasonic field computing have been implemented into designing practice. They were used for designing of working device for nondestructive testing of wagon wheels.
