Essay

The object is the Al-Fe, Al-Re, Al-Pd-Fe, Al-Pd-Re alloy systems. The aim is a determination of phase equilibria, phase transformations and crystal structure of phases. Methods are optical, transmis-sion electron and scanning electron microscopy, chemical, energy depressive X-ray, powder X-ray and differential thermal analyses. The novelty lies in for the first time phase equilibria in Al-rich re-gion of Al-Pd-Fe (from 750 to 1020 °C) and Al-Pd-Re (from 790 to 1000 °C) were determined; new phases D6, c, N and Al3Re were revealed and investigated; possibility of formation of quasicrys-talline and approximant phases in Al-Pd-dM (dM = Tc, Ru, Os, Rh, Ir) was predicted based on a summarizing and an analysis of own and literature data.
