Slusar S. Biological features of the species of Taxodiaceae F.W. Neger family in connection with the introduction into the Ukrainian Forest-Steppe

The dissertation is devoted to the investigation of biological features for four species of Taxodiaceae F.W. Neger introduced into the Ukrainian Forest-Steppe. The plant seasonal development rhytm, in particular, the characteristics of intra- and extrabud shoot formation, pollination, semination were analyzed. Male and female cones development is investigated, reproductive organ forming abundance, pollen grain fertility, seed inoculation qualities are defined. Using field techniques the studies on plant tolerance to the unfavourable environment conditions are carried out. In particular, an actual winter-hardiness and drought-resistance are determined. Using laboratory techniques a potential frost-resistance of the winter-hardy plant species and shoot water consumption characteristics are defined. By the bioecological features of introduced species of the family their adaptation level was counted. Availability of further introduction of the species into the Ukrainian Forest-Steppe was estimated.6156
