Essay

Theory of the resonance diffraction on a double periodically-modulated surface of a conductor is developed. The dependence of the reflection coefficients on the parameters of the problem is examined. In particular, total suppression of specular reflection effect is investigated. Dispersion branches of the surface waves and surface charge density distribution on a periodically-modulated surface of a conductor is examined. Effect of anomalous optical transparency of periodically-modulated metal films is explained.
