The thesis a research of folk toponimic prose of Western Polissya at the present stage of its existence. There is a closer definition of the term "folk toponimic prose" and differentiation of its genre variety. The main motives of the toponimic prose in this region and the level of its correlation with scientific data are determined. With the help of mapping method there is an attempt to mark up the spreading areas of the main types of major motives.
