Essay

Research subject: free radical oxidation in the brain and myocardium, enzymes of the first line of antioxidant defense of rat brain and myocardium. The aim of study: investigation of protein and lipid free radical oxidation changes in the brain and heart adult and old rats during immobilization stress. Research methods: spectrophotometry, spectrofluorimetry, differential centrifugation, ion-exchange chromatography. Investigations have shown that immobilization of adult rats was accompanied by occurrence of oxidative stress in the brain and heart. The stimulation of lipid and protein free radical oxidation in the brain of adult rats during immobilization was associated with changes in activity of first line antioxidant defense enzymes, increasing of brain sensitivity to effect of prooxidants and modulation of oxygen - related processes in mitochondria. Investigations have shown that aging was accompanied by decrease of brain and heart sensitivity to effect of prooxidant factors arising during immobilized stress. The sphere of application: research of age-related pathology mechanism, lecture course of biochemistry, pharmacology and pathology.
