Essay

The object is the photoelastic effect and the acousto-optic interaction in the solid states. The aim is a potential effectiveness estimation of crystals use in optoelectronic devices by spatial distribution determination of the photoelasticity and acousto-optic properties of crystals. The construction procedure of indicative surfaces of induced optical effects, which describe optical characteristics change of biaxial crystals with external fields was devoloped. The approbation of the proposed two-stage measurement method is performed. The analysis of spatial distribution of the photoelasticity and acousto-optic parameters wss performed. It is revealed that the anisotropic and the isotropic diffraction on the transverse and the longitudinal acoustic wave are the most effective cases of using of ?-BaB2O4 and Cs2HgCl4 crystals in the acousto-optic devices, correspondingly. Sphere of use is optoelectronic instrument-making.
