Essay

The new principles, methods and algorithms of automatic information processing and decision making have to be created for processing, analysis and interpretation of both vast obtained and stored volumes of visual information, which is a result of examination of material structure. Images of surface of metallographic slice. A system of invariant features and methods of both processing and analysis of metallographic images of material surface. Investigation and creation of methods for description, processing and analysis of the metallographic images with the purpose of elaboration of automatic expert information-measuring system for identification. Approaches to elaboration of an information-measuring system are the investigation methods.Analytical methods of estimation of slice parameters, which are typical in the quantitative metallography, are analyzed. A new metallographic image model and algorithms of the structural element segmentation are proposed. The known approaches to the determination of fractal dimension (based on square section) are analyzed as well as two new algorithms (based on circle and ring section) are proposed. A new method of estimation of carbide strings orientation is created. An information-measuring system "MATERIALY" for selection and processing of video data is elaborated and implemented. Centers and laboratories of metallographic investigation are branch of the results application.
