Essay

The effective blue-velvet emission with photon energy in maximum 2.68 eV at 300 K of ZnSe crystals doped by magnesium isovalent impurity has been obtained. The Mg influence on native and impurity point defects is defined. The analysis of these defects was carried out by using of effective charge conception and quasi-chemical reaction method. It was found the main role of interstitial selenium and zinc atoms in these defects. Optical consuming, reflection and luminescent spectra of ZnSe:Mg were studied. These spectra forms by interband transitions of free charge carriers, dominant annihilation of excitons that binding on donor centers formed by Mg, and recombination on donor-acceptor pairs that formed by interstitial selenium and zinc atoms. It was shown that this material can be used as a base in the light-diodes producing.
