Subject: Gracilaria verrucosa (Huds.) Papenf.,G. dura (Ag.) J. Ag. Aim: to study ecology, phytocenology and cultivation of the Black Sea seaweed genus Gracilaria. For the first time, an audit of Gracilaria in the Black Sea was conducted. The existence of two species of the Black Sea Gracilaria, e.g., G. verrucosa (Huds.) Papenf. and G. dura (Ag.) J. Ag. was confirmed. Six forms of these two species were found. These forms varied seasonally in the anatomical - morphological attributes. Variation was based on habitat conditions. Biomass of the Gracilaria phytocenosis were tracked by season also. Based on the data of the size-weight structure and the cenopopulation changes, the species and forms of Gracilaria were revealed. Stocks of the largest growths of Gracilaria in the Black Sea were analyzed. The opportunity to cultivate G. verrucosa f. procerrima was shown. Features of growth, production, and the formation of the thallus were investigated under various conditions of cultivation.
