Essay

The thesis is dedicated to the study of the Flora of the Chyvchyn Mountains. The essay of the botanical investigations here is presented, and its vegetation is characterized by both the dominants and floristic classifications. By our data, the Flora of the Vascular Plants of the Chyvchyns includes 823 species belonging to 336 Genera, 92 Families and 5 Divisions. The biomorphologic and ecologic peculiarities of the studied flora are analyzed. The complete list of the endemic taxa of the Ukrainian Carpathians within the Chyvchyns was carried out, together with their systematics and accustoming to the mountain belts. The sozological characteristics of the Chyvchynian endemics are presented and the endemics significant for their protection are separated. The list of the rare taxa including 91 species is evaluated, besides, the population structure of the midel species is analyzed. As a result of the analysis of the rare species growing on the local mountain massifs, the latters are grouped according theirsozological significance. The Chyvchyn Mountains are regarded as the “key botanical territory”. The dynamics of the natural reserve fund is evaluated here and the measures for optimization of their protection are presented.
