Essay

Research object: grape varieties with multiple resistance Suruchenskii belyi, Moldova and Onitskanskii belyi. Research objective: formation and use of potential fruitfulness. Methods: field and laboratory methods to study varieties; refractometric method to determine sugar content; method of direct titration to determine acid content. Theoretical and practical results: calendar terms of initiation of primordial inflorescences and the dynamics of formation of central bud potential fruitfulness over the summer vegetation period in varieties Suruchenskii belyi, Moldova and Onitskanskii belyi were determined. Central bud fruitfulness in 45 grape varieties with multiple resistance were studied, which may further be used to optimize prun-ing severity in varieties cultivated in the premountainous zone of the Crimea. Op-timum pruning severity in the study varieties was recommended, leading to the possibility to obtain higher yields of desired quality. The regularities governing in-terrelationships between central bud fruitfulness and yields were established. This will enable the size of future yield to be predicted on the basis of central bud fruit-fulness. Novelty: the dynamics of formation of central bud potential fruitfulness in grapevine over the vegetation period and the realization of the achieved potential in relation with different pruning severity applied to varieties Suruchenskii belyi, Moldova and Onitskanskii belyi in the premountainous zone of the Crimea were studied. Implementation degree: recommendations for grape production were developed in 2000-2002. Effectiveness: benefits arising from the practical use of the recommenda-tions developed made in 2000-2002 631.30 hrn/ha, 342.20 hrn/ha and 738.72 hrn/ha for Suruchenskii belyi, Moldova and Onitskanskii belyi, respectively. Sphere, branch of use: viticulture.
