The object diurnal butterflies in the grassland ecosystems within Roztocze natural area. The aims are to detetm the species composition of Diurna within the area as a structural element of the grassland ecosystems within Ukrainian Roztocze, to determination the point features of forming these communities under the influence of ecological factors with various genesis and to elaborate the guidelines concerning preservation of their diversity. Methods - visual supervision and registrations, collecting and identification of a zoological and botanic stuff, biogeocenological description of ecosystems, statistical methods. A species composition of Diurna within the area is determined and analysis of its changes during last century is conducted. The species composition and community structure in main types of grassland ecosystems are characterized, whereas data about participation of several Diurna species there with autecological characteristics of them are given. There are few ecological complexes of communities distinguished. The natural and anthropogenous factors which have influence on Diurna communities are considered, the features and tendencies of their anthropogenous changes are ascertained. A functional role, practical and science-applied meaning of the Diurna in grassland ecosystems are estimated, as well as measures on the preserving their diversity are grounded. Spheres of use are the bioindication and monitoring.
