The object is an ecological aspect of a biological diversity of the animal population of soils of the central part of the flood land with functioning of an ecosystem in conditions of toxic load by a nickel and lead. The aim is to establish of the nature of intercoupling of an ecological diversity of the animal population of soils (mesofauna) of wood biogeocenoses of a steppe zone of Ukraine with the functional characteristics of an edaphic biota in conditions of contamination by a nickel and lead. The methods are field, laboratory researches, statistical. The soil mesofauna of the central part of the Samara river flood land and heavy metals - nickel and lead - migration over the soil profile during the field experiment have been studied at present work. The soil mesofauna activity has been shown to be an important factor effecting the pollutants distribution over the soil profile. It has been proved that the proteolitic and cellulosolitic activities of the soil have been changed under heavy metals contamination. The sphere of use is the creating of criterion of a normal toxic load.
