Essay

The process of epoxidation of ethylallylethylacrylate and 1-octene with tert-butyl hydroperoxide in the presence of Mo2B, was shown to occur with an induction period, which stems from the catalyst activation processes. The catalyst activation takes place with tert-butyl hydroperoxides and olefins. The mechanism and kinetic regularities of catalysts activation and epoxidation of ethylallylethylacrylate and 1-octene with tert-butyl hydroperoxide in the presence of Mo2B were investigated. The kinetic model of the process which includes primary formation of the catalyst-olefin intermediate was proposed and the kinetic equation for the reaction rate derived, considering expenditure of tert-butyl hydroperoxide on the unactivated catalyst surface. The epoxidation process on the catalyst surface is completely activated. Kinetic constants of this process were calculated.
