Sarancha G. Socio-political and cultural adaptation of the third wave of Ukrainian emigration in the United States of America (40-70 years are XX age)

This dissertation is complex research of the third wave of Ukrainian emigration to the United States of America in 40-70 years XX century. There have been defined the peculiarities of migration, as well as social and political adaptation of the Ukrainians in this country. Both familiar and new facts have been, generalized and made known to the concerned scientist, which allows for revaluation of the meaning of this emigration wave. Political, social and economic reasons of the above emigration have been researched. Scarcely known aspects of the emigrants public activities have been brought to light. The influence of the third wave of emigration on the modern public, political and cultural life of the Ukrainian Diaspora in the United States of America has been defined. The scientific work is to extend the research on the basis of the complex and objective analysis and make scientifically proved conclusions as to the processes of immigration in the 40-70 years of the XX century to the USA, dear up various sides of the life of the Ukrainian immigration, relation with Ukraine, and also the contribution of the Ukrainian immigrants to the development of economy and culture of Ukraine, and also the country they are living in. In this work the light is thrown on the number of problems dealing with the Ukrainian immigration to the USA after the World War II. There are revealed the reason to make United Ukrainian Relief Committee as strong political organization with a variety of the social staff, who helped Ukrainian people and refugee in 40-70 years of the XX century. The reasons of the Ukrainian people departure to the United State of America, their settling in this country, employment and their participation in the Ukrainian social-political movements and organizations have been analyzed. The purpose of the research is to show the significance of the Ukrainian immigration for the Ukrainian culture, science and religions.
