Vitenko M. Polish-Ukrainian relations in Galicia: Social and Economic Aspect (the last third of the 19th - the beginning of the 20th c.).

The complex research into the influence of social and economical processes and phenomena on the relations between the Polish and Ukrainian population of Galicia in the last third of the 19th - the beginning of the 20th century is done in the thesis; reasons for the growth of international conflicts between the Polish and Ukrainian people are cleared up. They are: increasing shortage of arable land among Ukrainian peasants; legislative restriction of the Ukrainians' using landowners' forests, meadows, pastures and basins (servitude); encouragement of Polish peasants to migrate to the Ukrainian ethnic territory by the regional authorities and private organizations during the parcelation of landowners' estates; improvement of religious and corporate intercourse under the influence of increasing unemployment and lack of houses in towns; economic competition between Polish and Ukrainian communities.
