The dissertation is focused on the raising of durability and maneuverability of road trains with semi-trailers with the front driven and back self-aligning wheels due to the rational dimension of counterbalance moment on self-aligning wheels. To determinate the characteristics of maneuverability and durability in motion of road trains with the self-aligning wheels on semi-trailer, the systems of differential equations were worked out. The bogie of semi-trailer with the driven fore-axle and back self-aligning wheels was considered separately, as an independent vehicle; also the influence of dimension of counterbalance moment was determined. The self-aligning wheels of semi-trailer diminish in 1,9 times lateral forces on the axes of semi-trailer bogie, improve the entering of road train in a turn and allow to decrease the radius of his turn on 21% on the average. A road train with the self-aligning wheels of semi-trailer has an oversteering, therefore its limit top speed for rectilinear motion is 16,6 m/s. To raise the durability and maneuverability of road train during motion with high speed, in the exploiting is expedient to increase a counterbalance moment on the self-aligning wheels of semi-trailer and, even, to block these wheels.
