Sambor V. Diagnostics, surgical treatment atypical and anaplastic meningiomas of the brain

The dissertation focuses on the problem of clinics, diagnostics, surgical treatment atypical and anaplastic meningiomas of the brain. 215 cases of atypical and anaplastic meningiomas were investigated at the Institute during last 10 years. The patients were divided into 3 groups depending on topographic location of tumors: 1) tumors of supratentorial region; 2) tumors of subtentorial region; 3) tentorial tumors.The research investigations studied clinical syndromes which depends on the tumors different localization. Clinical manifestations of the atypical and anaplastic mеningiomas do not depend on gistological type of tumors. Supplementary methods of evaluation such as computed tomography, MRI, MR angiography, carotid angiography are considered to be of great importance. Neurosurgical intervention must be performed using a maximally expanded regime. The results of this research work have found practical application in neurosurgical practice.
