Thesis for scientific degree of candidate of biological sciences by specialty 03.00.17 - hydrobiology. - А.О. Kovalevsky Institute of Biology of the Southern Seas, NAS of Ukraine. Sevastopol, 2006. The thesis is dedicated to the study of species heterotrophic bacterioplanc-ton content and dominant sea bacteria resistanse to heavy metals. Levels of Pb, Cd, Hg in coastal water and their mutagenity were estimated. The heterotrophic bacte-ria number in all seasons and the dominant representatives species composition were determined according to modern nomenclature. It was revealed that MICs of Pb, Cd, Hg exceeded their sea water levels. Resistance of sea bacteria grew accord-ing to anthropogeneous pollution levels. A collection of bacteria with various lev-els of resistance to Pb, Cd, Hg was created, their qualitative composition was de-termined. Changes of the isolated bacteria resistance to Pb, Cd, Hg was studied during their maintenance on media with and without heavy metals. The sea bacte-ria ability to accumulate Cd was evaluated. Key words: Odessa coast, heavy metals, mutagenity, heterotrophic bacteria, species composition, resistance, accumulation.
