As a basis for this work, results of examination and treatment of 87 patients with AD of the 1 metatarsophalangeal joint in various stages of the pathological process have been used.. For an adequate and timely diagnosis of the AD of the metatarsophalangeal joint, a step-wise diagnostic algorithm has been worked out, based on determination of the principal differential- diagnostic criteria of the AD of the 1 metatarsophalangeal joint and implicating the clinical, laboratory, and x-ray diagnosis methods. The obtained results of the investigations have been used in the development of scheme of the conservative and operative treatment and the determination of indications and contraindications for the operations
