Manojlo V. Pine Forests of Steppe Bors in the Left Bank Ukraine and Optimization of their Growing

The object is the forming of planted and natural pine stands with the assistance of forestry operations during their growing; the aim is to study the structure and forming peculiarities of planted and natural pine stands in Izum bor (Izum pine forest) and to develop the propositions for the optimization of their growing and regeneration; methods - traditional for forest measurements, biometry and mathematical statistics; the new approach - dynamics of pine forest areas and pine forest quantitative parameters for 1970-2000 were analyzed first in the region, quantitative parameters of natural and planted pine forests were compared, the proposals for the application of different thinning regimes in young planted pine stands on middle hill relief were firstly elaborated for Izum bor; the main results - comprehensive investigation of the age and spatial structure in natural Izum pine forests, the assessment of natural regeneration peculiarities in dependence on forming conditions, the determination of the intensity ranges for commercial thinning, completed recommendations on the thinning periodicity in young planted forests in dependence on forest habitats; the application field is forest management.
