Essay

The electrodeposition of chromium from formic and oxalate solutions on the basis of salts Cr(III). The aim: an establishment kinetic principles and mechanism of the discharge of Cr(III) complex ions, definition of the character of influence of water-soluble synthetic polymers on physics-chemical processes at chromium plating and study of properties of chromium coatings . Methods of research: stationary and inversion voltammetry, method of a rotating disk electrode, gravimetric, and volumetric methods, optical, colorimetric, radiographic methods, measurement of microhardness of coverings. The kinetic model of the step-wise process of the discharge of Cr(III) ions was developed. The additives of explored polymers promote decreasing of aggregate stability of sol of chromium(III) hydroxide which is formed in the nearelectrodic layer by chromium plating it were shown. The possibility of obtaining the heavy coating of chromium from formic solutions with polymeric addition was shown. The resulting chromiumcoatings have valuable properties. Sphere of employing: electrochemistry, electroplating.
