Panchuk O. Shchedrivka in the context of ukrainian ritual songs (based on material from Volyn Region).

Dissertation is the first integral research of shchedrivka in ukrainian study of folklore. The aspects of interaction of winter ceremony and shchedrivka are traced. The targets, problems, innovation, methodological base, theoretical and practical value are stressed in the introduction. In the first chapter the history of the shchedrivkas' records and publications of the descriptions of the Volyn winter ceremony are analyzed. Epiphany carol like a genre has its own typical futures, architectonics and range of themes. The special traits of the folk tradition of the region were determined in the research. The epiphany carols' position of Volyn Region was defined under analyses of the texts.
