Essay

The thesis is the first comprehensive analysis of artistic space of Ukrainian folk fairy tales. The research is based on texts of Ukrainian folk fairy tales which were published mostly in the sources of the 2nd half of the 19th - the beginning of the 20th cc. Peculiarities of structural poetics of this genre have been studied in the light of modelled binary opposition "own"/ "foreign". In the order to define this antinomy specific functioning of the ritual associated with passing away in Ukrainian folk fairy tales has been analyzed.
