Essay

The dissertation focuses on the problem of improving the diagnosis and surgical treatment for multiple intracranial meningiomas (MIM). We investigated and operated on 75 patients with MIM between years 1957 - 2006. Some of the patients were operated several times. We reviewed 105 history notes. Among them women - 42, men - 33. We considered MIM only in the patients possessing 2 and more meningiomas at the time of investigation. Meningioma recurrences were excluded from reviewing. We also reviewed MIM patients investigation, MIM histology peculiarities, immune response to MIM and Ki-67 protein expression in meningiomas. We paid attention to links between MIM's, manifestation and tumor's number and location. Tumor removal radicality and low postoperative mortality was achieved. We conclude that different meningiomas in the same patient have different level of cell atypia and different Ki-67 protein expression.
