Essay

The distinctive features of the electronic and magnetic structures of Co and Ir based Heusler alloys (Co2TiAl, Co2VAl, Co2TiSn, Co2ZrSn, Co2Cr1-xFexAl, (Co1-xNix)2NbSn, IrMnAl) are obtained theoretically from first principles using the fully relativistic LMTO band structure method. The calculated densities of valence states, orbital and spin magnetic moments as well as the XAS and XMCD spectra, optical spectra of the alloys are analyzed and discussed.
