Essay

The Thesis is concerned with intravarietal variation of a Rose Muscat population and selection of highly productive clones of the cultivar on the basis of a set of biological and economical characters by using the method for identification of "extreme" and "medium" phenotypes. It has been established that the study population of the cultivar Rose Muscat is distinguished for high variation in quantitative characters, which is confirmed by an anomalous pattern of their distribution and high coefficients of asymmetry, excess and variation. High variation in quantitative characters indicates the existence of forms with positive and negative fluctuations, i.e. heterogeneity of the study population. Cluster analysis of the group of "extreme phenotypes" has revealed 17 highly productive parent vines to give rise to clones. The clones have been introduced into cultivation on the state farm "Magarach" with an economical benefit of up to 3,300 hrn per ha.
