Kuzmik V. Surgical treatment of fractures and false joints of the scaphoid bone of the hand

The work deals with analysis of diagnosis and treatment of 199 patients with fractures and pseudarthrosis of the scaphoid bone. The work proved experimentally that with any anatomic variants of the scaphoid bone blood supply, the dorsal approach with the aim of osteosynthesis with spongious autorod made correctly didn’t injure the arterial system of bone feeding. Analysis of the results of surgical treatment showed that the method of fixation with bone cortical and spongious autograft as compared with methods of osseous fixation with apparatus, screws, pins, vascularized osseous autografts, fragment elimination or corrective osteotomy of radius revealed the best results both in terms of consolidation and residual functional results. The developed treatment algorithm permits to plan both operative and rehabilitative process as a whole and to orient in the rehabilitative potential of each specific patient; its use ameliorate markedly the results of surgical treatment.
