Essay

The thesis is devoted to the investigation of different classes of Bezout rings with finite stable range and possibility of the reduction of matrices over such rings. New classes of commutative and noncommutative elementary divisor rings were found. The relation of the structure of maximal nonprincipal ideals of Bezout domains and the reduction of matrices over such rings is investigated.
