Essay

The thesis is the complex historical research of the process of formation and development of the cities in the Czech Republic in 1197-1306. The author investigates the course of the historical transformation process where the prototown settlement forms on the territory of the modern Czech republic turned into medieval cities. The author confirmed that the cities of the Czech republic started their development under the influence of town-planning activity carried out by the last representatives of the ruling Przemysloviches dynasty. The issues concerning the favourable influence on the city formation from the part of external colonization which was directly supported by Czech kings are also investigated. There has been held the research related to socio-economic and legal conditions determining the development of the medieval Czech cities.
