Desjatnychuk I. Prague spring 1968: the forming of civil society

The special features of the civil society forming in Czechoslovakia within the "Prague spring" period have been analyzed in the dissertation. The pre-conditions and factors of democratization, the party-state and social institutions influence upon the social-political life of the state have been found out in the research. We characterize the freedom of speech meaning and the work of the media with reference to the increasing of the social activity. The weighty place of the social movements of intelligentsia, workers and students in the confirmation of the civil society has been grounded too. The peculiarities of democratization in Slovakia, the activation of national minorities and confessions, the civil society manifestation in the conditions of the state occupation by the army of the Organization of Warsaw Contract states have been analyzed in the research.
