Essay

The dissertation depicts the results of investigations that create theoretical and practical fundament for effective and highly productive rough machining of cast iron work-pieces by face milling cutters with progressive allowance removal schemes. The mathematical models of single and multipoint rough face milling, which make possible calcula-tion of rational constructive milling cutter's parameters, geometry of their knives and cutting conditions, are developed. A milling cutter with new design that allows creation of various allowance removal schemes was developed and manufactured. The influence of cutting conditions on components of cutting force and wear trends was experimentally investigated. The generalization of the achieved results was conducted and the recommen-dations on the CBN cutter knife geometry, allowance removal schemes and cutting condi-tions by the milling cutters which provide the increase in productivity, machining stability and high wear resistance of the tool are developed.
