Essay

Thesis for а candidate's degree is aimed at investigation of anisotropy in the temperature dependences of thermal expansion for a broad variety of compounds with perovskite-like structure near low-temperature phase transitions by means of x-ray and neutron diffraction. It is shown, that peculiarities in behavior of the linear thermal expansion coefficient result from the phonon-spectrum features, caused by strong anisotropy of interatomic interaction both in the layers and in the chains.
