Chyminetz V. Ukraine-Germany relationship: political, economical and cultural cooperate (1998-2005).

The thesis is the first scientific generalization on the history of Ukrainian-German relations in 1998-2005. On the basis of a wide range of sources, the thesis considers political, economic and cultural aspects of Ukrainian-German cooperation in the environment characterized by national and global transformations. A complex study of the important lines and forms of interstate interaction allowed the author to reveal the nature, contents and basic outcome of the bilateral cooperation. The author has analyzed interstate political relations forming the general trends of bilateral cooperation. The work highlights significance of contacts between Ukrainian and German civil societies with regard to incentives pertaining to democratic transformations and the European choice of Ukraine. The thesis depicts the structure of bilateral trade links, accentuates the positive role of the German consultancy assistance in the process of market reforms in Ukraine, explores the sectoral composition of German investmentprojects in Ukraine. The author explains the peculiarities of interaction in the realm of culture and analyses the level of development of scientific and educational links between Ukraine and Germany with a focus on imperatives of the modern information society. The work summarizes factors influencing the image of Ukraine in Germany from the standpoint of the European prospects of our country.
