Essay

The dissertation is intended for the investigation of features of structure formation of thin electrochemical tin coatings on tinplate and for the discovering of interdependencies between their structure and properties. It is discovered that during electrochemical deposition of tin on tinplate the intermetallic compound FeSn2 is being formed on interface between tin coating and tinplate base. It is found out that major cause of formation of three-dimensional defects in tin coatings on tinplate is adsorption of molecular hydrogen bubbles on its surface during electrodepostion. It is discovered that crystallographic texture of tin coatings on tinplate is described by two axial orientations (101)[hkl] and (100)[hkl], perpendicular to surface, and random component. Features of changes of quantitative characteristics of major axial component (101)[hkl] of tin texture depending on deposition parameters are found. The quantitative dependence of protective ability of tin coatings on tinplates on their textureis determined and optimal conditions of their production are found. Increase of perfection of axial component (101)[hkl] of tin coatings texture causes increase of their protective ability.
