Chomolyak Y. Experimental local influence of progesterone application on remyelination of trigeminal nerve root-entry zone.

The thesis is devoted to the problem of trigeminal nerve root-entry zone remyelination in case of trigeminal neuralgia. Possibility of progesterone local application on trigeminal nerve root of the laboratory animals during microsurgical procedure has been studied and morphological changes of the nerve myelin sheath have been analyzed. The author has modified microsurgical access to guinea pig trigeminal nerve root in order to create experimental model of segmental toxic demyelination of the nerve. With the help of morphological and histochemical methods is stated, that application of the 2.5% solution of progesterone on demyelinated part of the trigeminal nerve root during microsurgical procedure increase regeneration of myelin sheath.
