Object - process of face-milling of thermoplastic polymer materials; aim - to ensure the required quality of surface layer at the stage of semifinish processing of thermoplastic polymer materials owing to creation of rational thermophysical conditions in the cutting zone; methods - states of cutting theory, theory of heat transfer, thermodynamics and mechanics of materials with disordered structure, methods of recording of infrared radiation and thermal signals, finite element method, electronic scanning microscopy, profilometry, differential scanning calorimetry; results - scientifically grounded choices of cutting mode parameters, material and geometry of tool at processing by milling of polystyrene and polymethylmethakrylat products for optical purposes; novelty - a new approach to the selection of rational parameters of milling parameters at thermoplastic polymer materials, which ensures the stability of their physical and mechanical properties at the stage of semifinish processing and increase productivity; introduction - at the Kharkov state aircraft manufacturing plant; branch - aeronautical and chemical engineering.
