The aim of the thesis is investigation of Shazk Natural National Park lakes diatoms species composition and water quality evaluation using diatom indexes. Shazk Natural National Park lakes diatoms species check-list were made. It consists of 282 diatoms species (including 298 infraspecies taxa, including those comprising the nomenclative species type). 29 of them being new for Ukraine territory and 217 being new for the territory of Shazk Natural National Park. Due to diatom indexes values Shazk Natural National Park lakes organic pollution can be characterized as absent or week (oligo - mezosaprobic waters) in majority of lakes, and as middle or strong in Dovge, Lynovets and Krugle lakes (mezosaprobic waters). The eutrophication level in lakes majority can be characterized as week or middle, and as middle or strong in Dovge, Lynovets and Krugle lakes also. The absence of organic pollution increasing in Svitaz, Lucimer, Tchorne Velyke, lakes were shown in comparison with 1992-1993 years data. The saprobity increasing in local area with greatest anthropogenic pressure in Pisotchne lake were established. The preliminary high (reference) ecological status in lakes Ozertse and Tchorne Male were established based on comparative analysis of hydrological and diatom indexes data in period of 1989 - 2006.
