Essay

The geological structure and some characteristic properties of chemical composition of major types of rocks and minerals are considered, petrochemical and geochemical characteristics are described, and ore specialization of the mafic-ultramafic complexes and their petrogenesis are determined for the Devladovka regional fault zone of the Ukrainian Shield. Starting from the textural-structural signs in the rocks and predominance of the major rock-forming minerals, peridotites, gabbro-peridotites and pyroxenites were established among the ultrabasites. Postmagmatic superimposed processes resulted in conversion of the mafic-ultramafic rocks into serpentinites, talc-carbonate rocks, actinolite-tremolite and chlorite schists. Petrochemical calculations of chemical compositions of the ultrabasic rocks testify to two genetic groups of the rocks: derivatives of the picritic magma (hyperbasites) and derivatives of the basic magma (ultraferrobasites). Petrochemical characteristics and mineral compositions of metabasites of the Ternovka syncline are similar to metabasites of the Krivoy Rog suite of the Saksaganka band of the Kryvbas. Basing on the geochemical investigations, some regularities in element distributions in the rocks of the region are established. Ultrabasites are perspective for silicate nickel, cobalt and PME. Gold, copper and molybdenum mineralization are of economical interest for the rocks of the metabasitic formations, and were developed in the quartz and quartz-sulfide metasomatic zones.
