Essay

The dissertation is devoted to discovering features of formation of nanostructure and texture of thin (0.01-0.03 mm) electrochemical chromium coatings on body-stock steel sheet and to determination of interdependence between texture of nanostructured coatings and their properties. The formation of nanostructure in thin chromium electrocoatings on body-stock steel sheet is discovered and it is found that this nanostructure is non-homogeneous. The structural components of the nanostructure correspond to: fine grains with the size of 3-5 nm, which are random oriented, and grains with the size of 5-80 nm, related to axial component of structure. Typical texture of nanostructural chromium coatings on body-stock steel sheet is a texture which consists of the following components: axial component with [111] axis, perpendicular to coating surface, restricted component (111)[112] and random component of texture. It is found that one of the major factors providing mechanical durability of thin chromium coatingsduring a technological operation of cans production is a formation of texture with an axial component [111] in their layers.
