Essay

The work is devoted to the theoretical study and mathematical modeling of heating and motion of evaporating finely dispersed metal particles injected into plasma jet during the plasma spraying process. The theoretical models for the heat exchange between multi-component plasma and spray particles have been developed taking into account the effect of the ion and electron heat fluxes as well as the exothermic reaction inside the composite particle. The numerical algorithms and software for computer modeling of heating and motion of the homogeneous evaporating particles and composite exothermically reacting particles in plasma jet have been created. The series of experiments on depositing the composite Ni-Al powder were conducted to verify the mathematical models under consideration. The obtained experimental data were used to calculate the propagation rate parameter of the exothermic reaction inside the spray particle. The mathematical models of heating and motion of the composite particles of differentstructure and composition have proved to be valid for the large set of plasma spraying process parameters.
