Essay

Object: new SrB4O7:Eu2+ crystals and Li6Gd1-xYx(BO3)3:Eu3+ crystals. The purpose: SrB4O7:Eu2+ and Li6Gd1-xYx(BO3)3:Eu3+ crystals growth, determination of dosimetric characteristic, establish of role of cationic sublattice of borate crystals on defects formation processes under ionizing radiation. Methods: differential thermal analysis, x-ray analysis, optical spectroscopy, photo-, x-ray- and thermally stimulated luminescence. Results: The features of phase formation of SrB4O7:Eu2+ and Li6Gd1-xYx(BO3)3:Eu3+ have been studied. SrB4O7:Eu2+ (0.03at.%) and Li6Gd0.5Y0.5(BO3)3:Eu3+ (3at.%) single crystals have been grown. The imperfect cleavage plane and system of crack propagation in crystals SrB4O7:Eu2+ were certain. Radiation-induced defects in SrB4O7:Eu2+ and Li6Gd1-xYx(BO3)3:Eu3+ single crystals have been studied. Energy parameters of the charge carrier traps are determined. Basic dosimetric characteristics of the grown single crystals have been determined. Obtained results indicate a that the SrB4O7:Eu2+ and Li6Gd1-xYx(BO3)3:Eu3+ crystals are perspective materials for solid state dosimetry. The field of application: physics of solid state, radiation materials science, solid state dosimetry.
