Essay

The spatio-temporal dynamics of phytoplankton development of Desna River from source to mouth was investigated for the first time. It was studied the main peculiarities of riverine algae communities formation according to its taxonomical structure, number, biomass, informative diversity during 1986-2004. On the basis of assessment of Desna River water quality and trophic level, the status of its ecosystem was estimated as moderate, river is considered as eutrophic water course.
