Essay

The dissertation is dedicated to improvement of maneuverability and stability parameters of three-link semi-trailer road trains and to possibility of their run in general traffic flow. The parameters of road trains maneuverability have been determined on the basis of developed mathematical models both for rigid and elastic in lateral direction wheels. It has been established that the normalized value of dimensional traffic lane cannot ensure a three-link road trains with uncontrolled semi-trailers. The normalized value of dimensional traffic lane may be ensured only for road train with the third controlled axis of the truck tractor and with the third controlled axis of semi-trailer. The stability of straight-line motion is determined by the value of critical speed of motion and the velocity of emerging of oscillatory instability. Road train stability at the execution of such maneures as steering wheel jerk, rearrangement, ISO, circular motion is determined by the value of lateral acceleration in the centers of masses of separate links. The selected parameters ensure the motion stability of three-link semi-trailer road trains. Experimental research of three-link road train model confirmed the adequacy of the developed kinematic model of road train.
