Essay

The thesis is dedicated to the problem of improving the technique of designing the meridian projection of the impeller when the upstream flow is featured with a swirl of arbitrary sign and intensity, for the blade system of an axial-flow pump of NR-type. The interrelation of geometrical and averaged hydrodynamic parameters at the impeller inlet of a cen-trifugal pump is considered when the upstream flow of the fluid pumped is featured with a swirl. The ratio for determining the reduced diameter of the impeller inlet is obtained, as well as the flow mode at the inlet throat of the impeller, the hub ratio at the impeller inlet and outlet. The results of computational and experi-mental research of axial-flow pumps with the blade system of NR-type are presented that support the main statements of the suggested design technique.
